About GVFamilyFun

GVFamilyFun is simply a list of local and nearby attractions (and some that can be a weekend away or a road trip) that will help parents in the Grass Valley/Nevada City area find fun stuff to do with their kids. Yes, it's disguised as a blog, but it's really just a bunch of reviews of local attractions.

I've lived in this area for nine years, and it's hard to find a good list of local and nearby activities, especially one with reviews and tips for parents. In fact I've never seen a good one, and I'm always looking for new, fun things to do with my kids.

There are a few places online that list events, but they are so overfull that it's hard to sort through them to find the stuff my kids might actually be interested in. Even Yelp hasn't been very helpful to me, because unless you know exactly the sort of thing you're looking for (amusement parks, skating rinks etc.) it's hard to find new ideas. And so many of these sites let you filter for "good for kids" but then they turn up stuff like restaurants, shopping centers and other businesses that can't give me that "day out" that I'm looking for.

So I hope you will find this site helpful. My goal is to get parents to email me with their own favorite local places, reviews and/or photos. I'd like this to be the first place parents with bored kids turn to when planning their summer vacation or weekend away. Thanks for reading!
